The Golden Apple by Vasko Popa

Book review

Tragedy "Twelfth Night" Shakespeare was a farewell to the carefree gaiety; He moved on to more serious topics. Turning to the tragedy was caused by several factors. Variables to the end of the XVI century theatrical fashion again brought tragedy to the stage, displacing patriotic chronicles. Writing for the mass audience, Shakespeare had to meet the new demands of the public. A more significant reason could be his desire to try his hand in the tragedy - reputedly the highest poetic genre. He did not touch this area since the first test in "Romeo and Juliet". After completing the cycle chronicles, Shakespeare was able to revisit the tragedy.
