Having achieved some success in East Africa, the Italian command decided to disturb the British on the main line. It is planned to blow from Libya to seize the Suez Canal. September 13, 1940, at the height of the Battle of Britain, Italian troops under the command of Marshal R. Graziani crossed the Libyan-Egyptian border and moved along the coast toward Suez. They had a total 236 thousand. Soldiers and officers, 1800 guns and 315 aircraft. Opposing them troops numbered 60 thousand. People (50% of them were Egyptians), and 168 aircraft.
